MbeleMed aims to make its public website usable across devices and access needs.
The site is built with semantic heading structure, labelled form controls, explicit required-state text, named field-level validation errors, an error summary on submit, keyboard-operable conversion forms, visible focus indicators on the form controls that were tested, and content that does not rely on colour alone.
Commitment
MbeleMed is working toward a public website that aligns with widely used accessibility principles, including perceivable content, operable controls, understandable interactions, and robust semantic markup.
Current features
- One primary heading (H1) per enabled page
- Labelled form controls on every field of the three conversion forms
- Explicit required-state text on required fields
- Named field-level validation errors that identify the field concerned
- An error summary presented on submission when validation fails
- Keyboard-operable conversion forms, including the native PHI acknowledgment checkbox
- Visible focus indicators on the form controls that were tested
- Responsive layouts tested at 390, 768, 1024, 1280 and 1440 pixel widths, with no horizontal overflow at those widths
- Text labels in addition to colour, so meaning is not carried by colour alone
Known limitations
Accessibility may vary after migration into Squarespace, installation of third-party scripts, addition of new media, or changes to native platform components. Colour-contrast ratios have not been formally measured, reduced-motion preferences are not currently honoured, and touch-target sizes have not been measured on every control. Screen-reader behaviour has not been independently verified. Accessibility should be re-tested after material design, platform, or third-party changes.
